Timecode (Performance)
// Audiovisual and physical performance using Max, Arduino and p5.js
Timecode is a physical and audiovisual performance/ interactive installation that seeks to expose the new temporal and procedural paradigms of modern society. The piece explores the post-digital context in which we live and the dependency on 'smart' technologies that has been created. It is composed of the interaction between movement, sound and the real-time manipulation of a clock.
Its structure consists of two main elements:
- Control: layers of sound generated by the relationship between the textual suggestions of the system and the text written by one of the performers. Each decision produces different sound textures and affects the functioning - speed and direction - of a quartz clock;
- Submission: manipulation of the sound atmosphere derived from the movement of a second performer using various sensors attached to his body and objects.
The time of the piece is determined by the clock, thus creating a relationship between the illusion of the shortcut and the reality of our perception.
